Terri Bodell – IDTA AB, ALD

Principal/Owner of Nick’s Dance School

“Dancing is my therapy”, Terri

Terri’s love of dancing started at the age of 10 which developed into studying dance and drama at the Corona Theatre School in London. She has studied Ballroom, Latin, Jazz, Contemporary, Argentine Tango, Tap, Ceroc, Line Dance, Lindy Hop and Hip Hop.

Her professional career took a very different path in her early 20’s when she trained to be a CBT psychotherapist, opening a Harley Street practice. As a psychotherapist she understands the benefits of dance for mental health issues and stress management.

Terri never lost her love for dance and in 2006, by complete chance, reunited with her very first Ballroom and Latin teacher who went on to offer Terri the chance to teach what she loved.

It was at this same dance school that Terri was first introduced to one of the other teachers, Nick Peacock who was to become Terri’s fiancé and with whom she helped to set up Nicks Dance School in 2010.

Nick sadly passed away in 2015 and Terri is now wholly focussed on teaching dance as Principal of Nicks Dance School.  Continuing to teach not only helps her to honour Nick’s memory, but it also brings the joy of dancing out in her pupils.

Terri has also built a strong relationship with and also partners with local dance school, Rhythmix Dance Academy, where she choreographs and teaches Latin & Ballroom to their Elite squad.  She has also performed with the Elite team in show performances. Together with Rhythmix, Terri has performed in flash mobs and other events for local organisations and charities.

Terri is a qualified IDTA Associate teacher in Ballroom and Line Dance, a qualified Alixa Flexibility instructor, and a member of One Dance UK, EMD UK and BWDA.
