Terri Bodell – IDTA AB, ALD

Principal/Owner of Nick’s Dance School

“Dancing is my therapy”, Terri

Terri Bodell is a dance teacher with serious credentials and a not-so-serious attitude. A qualified IDTA Associate in Ballroom and Line Dance, Alixa Flexibility instructor, and member of One Dance UK and EMD UK, Terri knows her stuff—and she knows how to make it fun.

Her love affair with dance began at age 10 with Ballroom & Latin, and she never looked back (except in the mirror, perfecting her frame). After training at London’s Corona Theatre School, she’s dipped her toes—and dancing shoes—into everything from Jazz to Hip Hop, Argentine Tango, Ceroc, and more.

In her 20s, she took a detour into the world of psychotherapy as a CBT therapist (yes, the Harley Street kind). This gave her a unique perspective on how dance supports mental health. Now she brings that insight into every class—because she believes dance is one of the best therapies out there. Bonus: the music’s great.

Fate stepped in around 2006 when she bumped into her first dance teacher, who invited her to start teaching, and she took her IDTA Associate teacher qualification, passing with distinction. That same dance school introduced her to Nick Peacock—fellow teacher, fiancé, and future co-founder of Nick’s Dance School. Together, they launched the school in 2010 and built a community filled with rhythm, laughter, and a lot of sequins.

When Nick sadly passed away in 2015, Terri carried on their shared dream, teaching with heart, humour, and a whole lot of hustle. She’s now the Principal of Nick’s Dance School, where she keeps the rhythm alive and the glitter & smiles sparkling.

You’ll also find her working with Rhythmix Dance Academy’s Elite Squad—teaching, choreographing, and occasionally jumping into shows, flash-mobs or Bhangra numbers (yes, that happened). She judges competitions, competes to raise money for the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust (Strictly-style!), turning her love of dance into a full-blown lifestyle.

She can shimmy, stretch, and show up with style—and teach you to do the same. Terri believes dance is for everyone—and is living proof that sequins, salsa, and a good sense of humour can take you far in life.erri is now wholly focussed on teaching dance as Principal of Nicks Dance School.  Continuing to teach not only helps her to honour Nick’s memory, but it also brings the joy of dancing out in her pupils.

Terri has also built a strong relationship with and also partners with local dance school, Rhythmix Dance Academy, where she choreographs and teaches Latin & Ballroom to their Elite squad.  She has also performed with the Elite team in show performances. Together with Rhythmix, Terri has performed in flash mobs and other events for local organisations and charities.

Terri is a qualified IDTA Associate teacher in Ballroom and Line Dance, a qualified Alixa Flexibility instructor, and a member of One Dance UK, EMD UK and BWDA.
