Dance Classes

Learn Ballroom & Latin dancing in a fun atmosphere

We believe that learning to dance isn’t just about learning the steps, it’s about having fun and laughter along the way.
So whatever your reason for coming along – perhaps it’s to learn a new skill, or you want to get fit and exercise, maybe have fun and meet new people, or to increase your confidence on the dance-floor for that ‘special occasion’ or for your planned cruise holiday – we will help you to enjoy learning to dance.

At Nick’s Dance School our lessons are an easy-going, relaxed introduction to dancing for newcomers
and experienced dancers alike – all levels all abilities.

Many people think about trying a dance class for some time before they actually take the plunge.

We know and appreciate that it can seem quite intimidating to attend a class for that first time, not knowing what to expect, but at Nicks Dance School once you take that first step, we know you’ll grow in confidence, meet new people and really have fun dancing in no time.
Nick’s Dance School offers simple and easy lessons designed for all abilities. Whether you are an absolute beginner or competent dancer our weekly Ballroom and Latin classes in Potters Bar can help you to develop your dance skills.

You’ll be setting the dance floor on fire in no time

We run regular Monday group dance classes in Ballroom and Latin at Little Heath Parish Hall, Potters Bar for adult couples.
Our adult dance classes are intended to be for pleasure first and foremost. We believe that you learn best while you’re having fun, so we try to teach you at a relaxed pace that make the classes enjoyable as well as useful. We are here to give you confidence and to encourage you to want to dance for the rest of your life.

Class Fees:

Monday nights at Little Heath Parish Hall, Potters Bar

Class 1: 6.45 – 7.45pm Beginners – Working On the Basics

The Beginners class is perfect for those with little or no ballroom dance experience. We welcome people who have never set foot on a dance floor as well as those who may have some dance experience, but are a bit rusty on the basics.

The great thing about our Beginners classes is that you’ll learn one dance at a time to help you know your spin turns from your spot turns before moving onto another dance style. We cover the basic introductory level steps which you can use to dance all around the ballroom floor.

You’ll learn the basic steps and techniques in five Ballroom (Social Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Quickstep, Argentine Tango) and five Latin (Cha Cha, Rumba, Jive, Salsa, Paso Doble) dances. The classes are great fun and taught in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.

By the end of the Beginner’s Programme, you will be able to dance routines in all 10 dances with confidence and ease. No more two left feet!

There are no set times to move up from one class to the next now, as different people will learn at different speeds. When one class starts to feel too easy, just try the next one to see if you’re ready for it.

Class 2: 7.45 – 8.45pm Beginners Plus – Beyond the Basics

You know some basics and can dance them with confidence, and now want to add some new steps & flair.

This class is designed for those with some previous experience in dance wishing to recap their basic skills or those who have attended Class 1 and now want to build on the basic steps learned in our beginner class and expand your repertoire of steps.

In this class we teach you a few slightly more intricate steps per dance, as well as help you to polish off your technique to become more confident on the dance floor at social dances. We will give you all the handy hints & tips to make these steps feel easier, enabling you to get the most out of your dancing whilst impressing your friends at the same time.

We also introduce the ballroom (or Slow) Foxtrot to your collection.

Within this class you will:
• Add new steps in your Ballroom dances ie Waltz, Tango, Argentine Tango & Quickstep
• Add additional Latin moves in the Cha Cha, Rumba, Jive, Salsa & Paso Doble
• Learn some basic steps of the Ballroom (Slow) Foxtrot
• Focus on connection with your dance partner and improved dance positions

Class 3: 8.45 – 10.00pm Improvers

This class is for those who already know how to socially dance all the Latin and Ballroom dances, or for those who have attended Classes 1 & 2 and who want to consolidate and improve their dancing skills (and add a few fancy bits).

Within these lessons you will:
• Build more complex routines and new step combinations in the Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Tango, Cha Cha Cha, Rumba, Jive, Salsa & Paso Doble.
• Expand your Argentinian Tango and add in some technique
• Focus on correct technique so you that you dance the steps with confidence and style.

You’ll find more information on the dances taught HERE

I am happy with how our class is run. I like our Master Classes and appreciate having the routines. I feel it helps build confidence with a dance. I like getting support with general technique in dances

Laura

Like the 1A and 1B split of the beginners class. Like the ‘warm up’ session at the start to practice the dances we already learned. Like the focus on 2 dances per session
