Covid Measures

COVID SECURE MEASURES

As the situation evolves, so will our approach to keeping you safe. We thank you for your patience and flexibility as we manage this and ask that you check back here for updates.

We expect all participants to be vaccinated and, if eligible, to have received their Covid-19 booster.

What if I am unable to get vaccinated against COVID-19 for medical reasons?
Some individuals are unable to be vaccinated and also, in some cases, tested for medical reasons.

You can apply for proof that you have a medical reason why you should not be vaccinated or why you should not be vaccinated and tested.

If you get this proof of medical exemption, you’ll be able to use the NHS COVID Pass wherever you need to prove your COVID-19 status within England.

We ask you to take a Lateral Flow Test approx. an hour before coming to a class
We would be grateful if all class participants would take a NHS Lateral Flow Test (LFT) approximately 1 hour prior to your class. This measure forms part of the government’s latest guidance regarding mixing in indoor spaces in England.

If you have any symptoms or have been in direct contact with an infected person you should not attend the class.

Symptoms which won’t be accepted at the lesson include a high temperature, a new and continuous cough, incessant sneezing and sudden loss of taste or smell.

What if my LFT result is positive?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept participants who test positive for COVID-19 or are self-isolating.

There is no exception to this policy.

NHS guidance states you should self-isolate immediately and take a PCR test to confirm the result.

Arrival at classes

  • Face coverings: we are still asking everyone to wear face coverings when entering and leaving the building and whilst using any communal areas – unless a person has exempt status. These may be removed when dancing.
  • You should arrive through the main entrance and proceed one-way into the hall.
  • We ask you to enter the building on time for your class and arrive no earlier than 5-10 minutes prior to your class time to avoid congestion.
  • We ask you arrive ready to dance with minimal additional belongings – with the exception of your dance shoes. Any personal belongings should be placed in a bag.
  • Please bring your own bottled water – we do not have access to the kitchen facilities.
  • We ask that you use the hand sanitiser in the communal area upon arrival.
  • All participants should observe current UK Government Respiratory guidelines ‘Catch It, Bin It, Kill It’.
  • We cannot accept any spectators who might wish to watch a class before deciding whether to join Nick’s Dance School classes.

Lessons

  • Our lesson planning has been reorganised to limit class size, offer increased distance based on the relevant range of movement and based on cubic meters of each hall (length x width x ceiling height)
  • We ask that you still maintain social distancing when moving around the dance floor – 2m x 2m space between couples.
  • We will never ask you to change partners in the class.

Departure from classes

  • Pupils are asked to leave one-way out of the hall.
  • We ask that you refrain from congregating in groups in the car park following the class, and maintain social distancing.

Teachers

  • All teachers & assistants take a Lateral Flow Test a minimum of twice a week (one of those test days is always a Monday).
  • Teachers will wear face coverings when greeting you at the front door and until they are in the main hall.
  • No teacher will dance a participant.
  • Teachers will limit face-to-face working and physical contact work.
  • Where possible teachers will use Headset Mic to avoid shouting.
  • Music played at a lower level.

Accident or Emergency
In an emergency, for example, an accident, provision of first aid or fire, people do not have to stay appropriately distanced if it would be unsafe.

People involved in the provision of assistance to others should pay particular attention to sanitation measures immediately afterwards including washing hands & hand sanitisation.
